Snehana Massage

A traditional Ayurvedic treatment, Snehana is a deeply rejuvenating massage that expels toxins, promotes suppleness and flexibility, calms the mind and nourishes the tissues and nervous system.

It is excellent for treating nervous conditions, stress, anxiety, overwork, fatigue and is particularly important at the change of seasons.

The treatment involves the use of warm, medicated herbal oils with sweeping, deliberate yet gentle strokes specific for your constitution.

Ayurvedic Massage is also excellent for the elderly, pregnant women, mums and children.

The specific massage sequences covering the Marma points, are used in over an hour-long process to soften, loosen and dislodge toxins, offering space for the mind-body process to restore.

As a one-off application, Snehana offers an instant stress-reliever. As a consecutive series of daily treatments, the cleansing and nourishing effect is increased manifold.

Traditionally it is employed as a pre-treatment to other specifically prescribed Ayurvedic treatments, yet alone it is a treasure available for its many benefits.

Ayurvedic Steam Box Treatment – Bashpa swedana

Recommended following an Ayurvedic massage

A seated herbal steam in an authentic Ayurvedic steam chamber – allows the oil to penetrate deep into the tissues and releases deep seated toxins.  The herbal steam bath for the whole body should follow oil massage.

Ayurveda teaches that a steam sauna following Ayurvedic Oil Massage treatment improves not only the absorption of medicated oils applied during the massage but also the elimination of toxins (ama) from deep within the tissues.

It also aids circulation, promotes suppleness and flexibility, calms the mind, nourishes the nervous system and pacifies Vata dosha.   Ayurveda also teaches that it is very important for your head to remain cool during a sauna otherwise can aggravate Pitta dosha and may damage the nervous system – hence the special design of the Ayurvedic seated steam box, with the head external.

Steam treatment $40
