Shadow Yoga is Hatha Yoga, whereby restrictions in the body are seen as layers of frozen shadows. Through practicing the sequences developed by it’s founder Shandor Remete, the body is freed of restrictions which in turn release the mind from its conditioning.
The forms of Shadow Yoga (preludes) are designed to release tensions, obstructions and habits in the individual while cultivating mindfulness, strength and discernment.
Progressing through the prelude forms cultivates smooth breathing and brings about changes in firmness and flexibility.
The prelude forms of Shadow Yoga incorporate simple repetitive movements utilising principles effective in releasing blockages in the body (from injury, trauma, or lifestyle) which then leads to unobstructed circulation of life force.
As emphasis placed on cultivating a strong digestive fire (agni), a strong constitution and healthy immune system develops - nurturing bone and blood.
The style is both graceful and dynamic, with equal emphasis on both breath and movement.
Beyond the Introduction to Shadow Yoga course, three preludes are learned and practiced - for the beginner to the experienced practitioner.
